Robert Zemeckis, a director well-known for his popular films such as Back to the Future, Cast Away, Allied, The Polar Express, and Flight as well as the all-time best film Forrest Gump. Robert always has their own surprises in every movie, always exploring each of the characters in his films in detail. This movie also stars Tom Hanks, the best actor of all time and has inspired everyone who watched it.

“Forrest Gump,” tells about a Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) who has an IQ below average. Despite all the flaws he has, Forrest has inspired many people around him to stay hopeful and stay awake from despair. Starting from his ever-isolated life, meeting Jenny (Robin Wright) who always accepts the presence of Forrest, enters an army and meets his new friend Bubba Blue (Mykelti Williamson), to inspire people.

Forrest Gump is a unique film that includes some of the great figures fictionalized in this film include Elvis Presley, John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Baines Johnson, John Lennon, to Richard Nixon. Fictional historical events are also present in this film including the assassination of JFK president in 1963, the Vietnam war in 1966, landed on the moon in 1969, the Watergate scandal in 1972, the founding of the Apple company in 1976, to the proliferation of the disease HIV/AIDS in 1981.

In addition to its uniqueness, Forrest Gump also has a very interesting story. Like how Forrest inspired Elvis Presley because of odd style dancing from Forrest, how Forrest made Lieutenant Dan Taylor reconciled with God for constantly questioning the existence of God after losing both legs, how Forrest embodies Bubba’s ideals by establishing the most successful shrimp company, how Forrest inspires John Lennon in one of his song lyrics ‘Imagine’, how Forrest helped Jenny through his tough times because of the shadows of his father’s past, to how Forrest inspired many people for running for two years.

All that’s in this film is shown very fitting and not boring, occasionally also interspersed with cuteness Forrest is so innocent without intending to harass his deficiency. The songs used in this film is so memorable such as “Hound Dog” by Elvis Presley, “Blowin ‘in the Wind” by Joan Baez, “Rainy Day Women #12 & 35” by Bob Dylan, “Break On Through (To the Other Side)” by The Doors, “Sweet Home Alabama” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, “Go Your Own Way” by Fleetwood Mac and others.

Forrest Gump won 6 Oscars in 1995 for Best Picture, Best Actor in a Leading Role, Best Director, Best Writing (Best Screenplay Based on Material Previously Produced or Published), Best Film Editing, Best Effects and Visual Effects. Not surprisingly, the main actor of this movie is Tom Hanks who is Tom’s best performance in this film, very memorable and will never be forgotten.

“Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.”

– Forrest Gump

These quotes often appear when watching this movie. Life is always filled with surprises, we will never know what will happen next. However, deficiency is also not a thing for us to stop moving forward. We can only be to be something better even if it looks bad in the eyes of a person.

Overall, this movie is very inspiring to many people and have a many moral messages in it. Not surprisingly, too, if this film did win 6 Oscar awards in it. For you fans of Tom Hanks or fans of films with extraordinary and touching stories, Forrest Gump isn’t to be missed.
