review 1: I found this book to be rather laborious and overly long. Perhaps it was the style of writing which tried to fit into the period of the story. There wasn't a lot of detecting or problem solving going on by the main character, Florence, who was the housekeeper at Mullings. She spent a lot of time musing but didn't reveal any significant clues. By the time the murder was solved, which was abruptly, I almost didn't care.
review 2: Florence Norris is 14 years old when she begins at Mullings as a kitchen maid. The story gives background information of all the characters in a way you really get to know them. The storyline takes place over many years and begins with a suspected murder but can never be proved, the start of the story is in 1900. If you enjoy cozy myster

The dialog is extremely stilted, nothing happens, and yet it goes on and on.
