Haley Randolph
review 1: I once sat on a bus for about an hour while a young woman told the bus driver all the places that she bought shoes. But she wasn't as vapid and self-centered as the narrator/heroine Haley Randolph, who wins a vacation at a super-exclusive island resort for four people. She invites her three best friends along, only to find a murdered body her first day there. The murder scares off guests at a wedding to take place later that week, and the bride insists Haley and friends fill in for the missing guests. Since Haley detests the bride, she decides to solve the murder to get out of going to the wedding. She also has five handsome suitors. I'm sure some people will find Haley amusing and even, heaven forfend, realistic.
review 2: One of the most attractive feat
... moreures of this book was the change in setting. Haley, however, is starting to wear on me a bit and I'm not sure how compelled I will be to continue with the series. Her character is well-written: vibrant, fashionable, funny. She is also rather shallow, and although that is one of the points of the character, this obsession with handbags and fashion, I am not as enamored of it as I was at the beginning of the series. I feel like she should mature a little more as a person in her mid-20's. Or, maybe I'm just too old to enjoy this series going forward. ;o) The story was interesting and fun due to the change in setting, but I also liked the way that the supporting male characters were woven into the story. A great read for fans of the series. less
