review 1: This is the first book that I read to Henry. I brought it to NICU when he was born. Every day I would read one of the stories, and it helped pass the time away because all Henry did was sleep. I can't blame him, he was born early! I probably read the entire book to Henry 3-4 times within the first 6 months of his life. Probably my favorite story to read to him is "A Fly Went By", and it was the very first story I read to him. I had fond memories reading this as a child, and I probably haven't read it in 25 years, so it brought back good memories. "Are You My Mother?" is also another book that brought memories. In Kindergarten, my class put on this play, and I played the Bee (although, there was no bee in the story I don't think). I think it's a great book for beginner re... moreaders, or night time reading. The drawings is bright, cheerful and simple. The only negative thing is the book is a wee bit heavy, and may be too heavy for a toddler to hold. They do come with individual books for young readers to hold better.
review 2: This book includes: Go Dogs Go!, It's Not Easy Being a Bunny, Are You My Mother?, Put Me in the Zoo, The Best Nest, and A Fly Went By.Usually I don't like compilation books but this was about $5 more than we would have paid for ONE of those titles by itself. I LOVE me a bargain! All of my kids are enjoying these stories. Ellie walks around with the book and calls it her "Bible." (We think God understands the mind of a 2 year old and won't strike her for her blasphemy.) She and Will (5 years) both like to sit and "read" the book.Actually, William could read the book if he put some effort into it. It's a beginning reader book and he definitely qualifies for that. Ellie's version of reading the book is to say the parts she remembers us reading. It won't be long and she'll have the while thing memorized.I have enjoyed reading some of the lesser known Dr. Seuss stories. There is the typical Seussian rhyme, silly antics by the characters and bright illustrations. Two of the stories (It's Not Easy Being a Bunny, The Best Nest) even have morals (be yourself and be content). If you are looking for a beginning reader or a rhyming book other than Cat in the Hat, I highly recommend this book. less
