review 1: Over all story is OK, but it's boringly predictable. It uses the typical romance tropes that are incredibly over used and boring. The idea of these Icarus flying through the sky is great, but at times the writer added random story bits that were mostly irrelevant. There was no major pay off from the discovery since it was so openly telegraphed well in advance and then.. after solving the major plot, there's ANOTHER plot tagged on at the end to just keep the story going long after it should have been over. If you read a lot, this book is going to do nothing for you unless you just really like tried and true romance.
review 2: This was a pretty low-key story for something in the steampunk genre. Sometimes it worked, the story feeling charming in its simplicity an
... mored the relaxed way it unfolded. Sometimes it didnt work though, the story leaving me a little bored at certain points. Ultimately I enjoyed myself. It was a comfortable quiet story in a genre that is so often loud and jarring when it really doesnt need to be. The characters, while not too memorable, were sweet and lovingly crafted. I saw myself very much in the grumpy (and rarely sweet) clock-fixer and I appreciated the accuracy of his whole personality. I recomend this book to anyone looking to unwind and detox after reading the works of so many other authors trying so desperatley to excite and impress. less
