review 1: B+ This book was really interesting - it was a really interesting look at slavery around the world. Really sad. The author at times pretends to want a slave. It's a good look into their worlds. My main criticism is that he takes too much of a U.S. perspective - it was too U.S.-centric. What abt what the international agencies are doing? And I care more about activists in individual countries than the U.S. anti-slave Bush-administration people. But the stories of the slaves are what really illuminates this book. Very interesting, but also sad.

... moreding because of the gut-wrenching conditions these people survive in, but I soldiered on, unable to put it down. Skinner is an investigative journalist, and for his research, he lived it. He went into the heart of where the problems were and even went undercover to buy a girl for slavery. I would recommend this to anyone that is interested in this topic. less
