review 1: I didn't like this as much as Ed Emberley's classic Go Away, Big Green Monster! However, I have seen some reviews stating that some children were actually scared by that book even though it is usually widely popular and well-loved. We never seemed to have an issue at the libraries where I worked when we read it for storytime, but I can understand why they produced a book with a cuter creature for readers who might be afraid of the dark and the idea of monsters. This is a gentle book for sensitive children who aren't ready for the original. It is a good choice for a bedtime storytime because this one has a nighttime theme.
review 2: If I had a hundred copies of Go Away, Big Green Monster in my school library, they would all be checked out every week. Such is
... morethe love my school has for Big Green Monster. How could I resist this for-younger-readers version of a school favorite?Of course I couldn’t. And I’m glad I couldn’t. It’s just as fun and just as colorful and just as zany. Just written with very little folks in mind. less

This is NOT as successful as Go Away, Big Green Monster. I really do not care for it.
