Shark Wars
review 1: Who knew that the world below the ocean was so organized? There are "shivers of sharks" which roam the ocean as a group. They have their own territories, which they jealousy guard. Within each shiver, there is a hierarchy of leadership. Each position can be voted upon or a shark can challenge for position in the line. Some shivers, such as Goblin Shiver, are more aggressive and want to destroy other shivers and gain territory and recruits. Living in this world is our hero, Gray. He's a young reef shark much bigger than his peers ("I'm just big-cartilaged") who is always hungry. His best friend is Barkley, a somewhat annoying dogfish. One day, Gray and Barkley wander outside their home reef (territory). Gray is in pursuit of food, as always. They meet up with Thrash, one of... more Goblin Shivers sharks. This sets in motion a series of events that gets Gray banished from the shiver. “You put your hunger in front of the safety of everyone on the reef.” The last thing Gray hears is his mother telling him to meet her at the Tuna Run and to "prove himself." Gray sets out alone, but is quickly joined by Barkley. They meet up with four sea creatures who have left their own shivers and have banned together for security: Striker, Snork (Sawfish), Maria & Shell. The six of them become "Rogue Shiver." But it is dangerous under the sea and treachery abounds. It's not easy to know who to trust. Gray's home reef is invaded by Bull sharks, his family and friends run off, and Gray finds he must join up with Goblin Shiver. But this alliance is fraught with danger and betrayal. The author has created an interesting world. I love the vocabulary he has created: “Dry world is where 2-legged land sharks ruled” and an interesting cast of characters: a peace-loving Samurai fighting fish named Takeeza, Yappy, a verbose snap dragon, and the arrogant Goblin, who named the shiver after himself. Any student with a fascination for sharks, should enjoy this series.
review 2: Well this book had a lof of adventure and fighting but through all it was good enough. Gray a young megladon and his friend barkley a dog fish get into trouble when their hunger gets to the best of them while they are searching for food they met a group of friends up ahead. Their names were Striker, Mari, Shell, and Snork. Once they met they have entered Goblin shiver. Gray is struggling to find his mother. But he teams up with Goblin shiver and his friends try to get him out. Meanwhile Striker doesn't have a good feeling about Velenka and Goblin the good news is that they have got Gray out of Goblin shiver. Then their is a big fight Goblin Shiver teams up with the bull sharks and they are going against Razor Shiver and Gray with his friends. Then a ancient fighting fish master appears and his name is Takiza he helps Gray and his friends by making a giant hole in the ocean sucking Goblin shiver and the Bull sharks in. Goblin says this isn't over and he'll be back for revenge. Gray never found his mom but is still in search of her. What will come next of this adventure. less
