review 1: It is interesting how some readers can dislike a book and you find it to be amazing. Then you read a book on the New York Times best seller list and find it awful. Sometimes it’s not a good idea to base on book solely on reviews of others. A Proper Education for Girls was exactly what I hoped it would be. For me it was a page-turner. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen. When I had to attend to my other responsibilities and stop reading, all I could think about was picking the book back up again. I wait waste your time giving you the plot and talking about the characters, just pick it up and read it for yourself.
review 2: This (as in the others I've rated four to date) I would give 3.5 stars. Very entertaining read about two sisters in Victorian Eng... moreland who are trapped by their sex (female) and father (a bizarre idiot). One sister gets packed off to India and the other endures horror in her own home. Interesting to note in the back of the book that some of the really unbelievable thinking on women that goes on in the book was from the body of "scientific" knowledge at the time. less
