review 1: This book was 2.5 stars for me. It had me for the first 200 pages and then lost me to too much religion talk. At first the book is about Scarlett and her parents dealing with the loss of her brother and then it becomes a book dealing with the new guy Will and his mysticism. I struggled with the second part of the book because it was combining too many things to explain all that was going on. There's beautiful descriptions of Scarlett spending time horseback riding but the religious talk killed me. It's just not my thing in books. I wish this story was just about dealing with loss and meeting a cute new boy.
review 2: Scarlett's grief is realistic, but I'm not sure that her healing is. She has stopped eating and even just ventured into the path of cutting hersel
... moref, but all for the sake of a boy, she snaps out of it pretty quickly. The attraction between her and Will is strong, but when she's been coping in a self-destructive manner for months, it does seem a little sudden that she just turns away from that when she realizes hurting herself hurts Will, too--kind of an abrupt change. There are also elements of Kabbalism that are introduced pretty late in the book, which are kinda interesting but get a little lost because the other elements of the book, which have been going on longer, are more interesting! All in all, it's a satisfying story but there are a couple weak elements. less

Such gorgeous writing...! Not often do I read a book with words so beautifully laid down on a page.

This book was not at all what I was expecting. It started out slow but it really picked up.
