This is a movie that I want, a movie that shows the masterpiece with its beauty cinematographic and a visual effect that is not always unwarranted. Although this movie is not directed by Ridley Scott anymore, I just wonder about Denis Villeneuve why he can be such a genius person to make this masterpiece from a sequel of a masterpiece as well. Of course in this sequel, it still brings some elements of a city of in Los Angeles that is so bleak with the amount of pollution, smoke, filth everywhere, and all sorts of that things. And also, this movie is still cast the main actor of the prequel Harrison Ford and the sequel starring Ryan Gosling. If you haven’t watched this prequel or the movie yet, you should watch it right now because you will never see a movie as good as Blade Runner.

“Blade Runner 2049,” tells about 30 years after the incident in the first movie. Set in 2049 in the same city, a new blade runner named ‘K’ (Ryan Gosling) investigated a dark past of what had happened for 30 years. ‘K’ then finds a clue where he will run a mission to find Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford), a former blade runner who has disappeared for 30 years.

Blade Runner 2049 is a sci-fi movie that still brings some elements from its first series such as the philosophy and the existence of the story of both movies. The urban atmosphere in this movie still portrays a gloomy atmosphere of dark, cold and dirty until people still regard the replicant as a threat to humankind. Although not directed by Ridley Scott again, I’m grateful that Denis Villeneuve very understood the first film so well that we still feel the sensations that are accurate in the first movie. Denis Villeneuve is known for his films such as Arrival, Sicario, Enemy, Prisoners, and others. His films also somehow have a uniqueness that’s different from the others. For the second series of Blade Runner, this movie is a bit lost its thrilling nuance. It’s not the same as the first movie that makes the all of the audience very confused so don’t want to watch for the second time anymore. I can say that this is a movie that will change some prospective filmmakers. Its beauty is so satisfying, its cinematography, and all of such things. There will be no more movies like this at the end of 2017 even for the future, it will be very rare to find movies like this.

For the second series of Blade Runner, Ryan Gosling is the main actor of this movie. I can’t get rid of his figure after watching La La Land from romance to a serious movie. The character that played by Ryan Gosling is a character who makes a pity for him. ‘K’ is someone who has to learn a variety of emotions especially in uncovering a mystery to find who exactly he is. This character is like someone who doesn’t care about people around him because he’s considered a replicant by humans in that city. Therefore, ‘K’ always accompany him with an AI Joi. For the performance of Ryan Gosling somewhat it’s interesting to watch if this movie is a thriller, it may be difficult to get used to. Harrison Ford who played as Rick Deckard also has a performed satisfactorily despite his age of inadequacy, he was still able to do even with many physical action scenes. What I like about this sequel is the movie approximately described in detail while the first movie it’s so difficult to understand. The opening scene is also an actor from one of the WWE wrestlers, Dave Bautista a.k.a Batista who played Sapper Morton even though his role here is so short. Jared Leto who played as Niander Wallace is also very good here but for some reason, this character always appears and disappears just like that but he will be the main point of the plot-twist in the story.

Just like the first series, Blade Runner 2049 will make you bored with this movie and the duration is also almost three hours. So, this movie isn’t for everyone. Although like that, this movie is more alive than the first series for me. I don’t know why but it’s certain that many people will not feel satisfied when watching this movie in the cinema. But, I just wonder the nuance of the noir that feels lost little by little although there are still one. But, this movie relies more on the plot-twist at the end of the movie although the plot-twist is not too elegant, this will be the core of the main story after you wonder if Rick Deckard is a replicant or a human being. The lack here is that there are so many scenes, dialogues, and angle camera that I find less important to watch so we can’t remember all the important dialogues because they are forgotten by these unimportant elements. But I admit it with its cinematography and visual effects that are so beautifully built for sci-fi movies like this. It’s so full of emotion, the story that keeps developing and it explained slowly but surely so it will make any sense to answer the questions of you big fans of Blade Runner.

Overall, I suggest now for those who haven’t watched the Blade Runner franchise, you should watch it now. No movies are as beautiful as Blade Runner. I’m speechless about this movie and I don’t know what I want to say. The cinematography from Denis Villeneuve and the visual effects that so satisfy the eyes of the audience so that we sometimes don’t feel bored with its beauty of the world from the dark side. Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford are actors who show their performance with the utmost, a fully emotionally constructed character, and a plot-twist that you can’t imagine.
