review 1: I love historical mysteries and was excited to read one set in a Shaker community in the 1790s, and this one won an award for a first time mystery writer. Therein lies my disappointment. It was nowhere near the caliber of writing Charles Todd, Stephanie Barron, and other authors of the same genre. The main character never won me over and there were too many familial relationships to keep track of.
