review 1: I so loved this book. It was beautifully quiet, meditative, full of fascinating information I never thought to wonder about, not just about snails, but about a person's inner resources. The writing is elegant without being stuffy and its message uplifting. I know I will read it again, and recommend it. I think it would be especially good for anyone dealing with a chronic illness, but will appeal to a far wider audience than that.
review 2: Ms. Bailey does a superlative job tying her own physical situation in with that of the gastropod. Her writing is poetic and a bit haunting at times, bringing in the humanity our society seems to be loosing.I'm always a bit shocked at the general public's lack of biological knowledge, and here is a person who was ignorant o... moref one facet, but educated herself, and then the reader.
