review 1: A cute girl book - Emma is way too tall for her 12 years and has a very unfortunate name. She appears to be self raised, to attend school when she must and run her mother's business (a bead store) the rest of the time. When Emma tells her mother what a freak she is, Mom decides it is time for her to meet her father's side of the family and sends her off to a Freke family reunion where Emma finds her people, but also sees how her own mother has made her a stronger person. (Presumably because she has to fend for herself.)
review 2: I really liked I, Emma Freke. One reason why is because I feel like that Emma at the begging was all shy and didn't know who she was, but after the family reunion I felt that she knew who she was and wasn't afraid to express herself. I... more also liked her bravery when she decided to become close friends with Fred even though everybody told her to stay away from him that he was bad news. I also found it funny that her whole life she was pronouncing her name wrong! Overall I thought that this book was very well written. less
