review 1: This novel is entertaining enough, but is too patchy in its treatment of it characters and of some historically important events to be outstanding or memorable. Of course, it is fiction, and not enough is known about any of the characters to avoid fictional conjecture, but even so, it was just a little too romanticised for me. I did like the inclusion of Adeliza, who has not featured prominently in any other Historical novel I have read. I compare all historical novels to those by Sharon Penman and Alison Weir, and these two writers compel all others to look mediocre by comparison.
review 2: It was a decent book, but there was just too much changing narration between characters for me. Often she would start one paragraph from the point of view of one charact
... moreer, then turn around the next paragraph and view it from another character's perspective. It made it really difficult to follow at times. The story was decent but it ended a bit abruptly for me. There was no reconciliation for any of the characters! less

Another fantastic offering from Elizabeth Chadwick. I don't think she has ever disappointed me.

This book didn't do much for me. The characters were unlikable and the story show.

A very good way to learn history in a romantic and practical way! I just loved it!
