review 1: I can't quit any fiction to do with the Plantagenets even as though the last surviving offspring of the illustrious Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry of Angevin, King John is such a disappointment as a battle commander and more so as an English ruler. Also saddening is the marriage of Roger Bigod and Ida de Tosney that started out so promisingly and ended happily in Chadwick's For the King's Favour. I'm hoping to read more of the circumstances of the Magna Carta of this historical event from the perspective of William Marshal and Isabel de Clare in Chadwick's other historical novels.
review 2: I liked this book. I'm not a big historical romance reader, but this book, although I would call it romance, has a lot more body to it than most in that genre do. It's fas
... moret-paced and action-packed reading directed at women. I liked this because a lot of women's fiction is so focused on emotion and character development that the plot seems to be almost irrelevant.I really enjoyed this book and I picked up a few other books by the same author after reading this, which I also enjoyed. This is a nice read to relax with even if you're not normally a romance reader and want to relax with something light that doesn't feel dumbed down less
