review 1: Lovely story from Elizabeth Essex. A good example that you do not need a complicated plot to develop an emotionally satisfying story. The book was a little slow in places -- Essex is a stickler for details. Her vast research is evident. BUT I cried at the end, a sure sign of emotional investment (which I believe is the highest compliment for a romance). Looking forward with great anticipation to the next book in the series.
review 2: The nautical speak was too much for me but each scene was vividly described and I could almost see the life onboard and battles. I liked the characters very much, except Richard who came across as a pompous @ss :p I wish Col had at least written to Sally after she went home to recuperate. ..Grace was perceptive enough to see Sally
... morewas heartbroken, not just physically injured. All in a good read. I like this much better than #2 Will Jellicoe's story...now on to #3! less

Really enjoyed this! It ran off the rails slightly right at the end, but otherwise was lovely.

2.5 so much ship talk I struggled to find the will power to finish this one.
