review 1: Let's that with the positives: it's a cute little story. It gives a different spin on the good known Aurora or sleeping beauty story which some might liked I personally didn't really understand the need for especially in this particular situation, but non the less, I think this is a good little childrens book that I am sure many will enjoy. That being said what this book is not is s real new story of Maleficent. Sure are chapters are solely focused on her, but most are not. And while the story talked about her upbringing without her parents, it more glances over the entire thing, instead of going a bit more into details, which I would have liked better, especially considereng that it is supposed to be a book about her, learning more about the how and why's would have been n... moreice. Like I said for me, the book is missing the key factor: an insight into the life story of this character, an in depth look into her. There are a few more details the previously known -at least to me- but overall this book was a different version of sleeping beauty and nothing more, sadly. I don't know if that is because it is something if a book tie in, at least I think it is, or because the author didn't know how to write an actual life story of such a character that would go into real details, but this book to me just lacked love for details, overall love for the supposed main character and overall storyline love. BUT it is still not a horrible story, just not what it was marketed as.So as I said: nice children's book and a bid different then the other Aurora stories that I know of, but if you hope for a real story about Maleficent you are wrong here and if possible I would have given 2.5 stars but since I did find it a sufficiently cute book it became 3 instead of 2, which has more to do with my foundness of disney the actual uniqueness of the book.
review 2: I have never been a fan of Disney movies, feeling they give off this unrealistic view to young girls that life is just peachy "fully of silly songs of love and glasss slippers. However I have always loved Disneys villians, but Maleficent, oh for she is and always has been the best villian and this book is the cherry on top. I LOVE this book, I LOVE this story. Going all the way back to find out realistically why Maleficent became hard. Showing how she was trying to deny her heart all along. For her love for "Beasty" saves her. Aurora her daughter by heart, one so pure to save her. This is not just any book, it is Maleficent the Magnificent! less

Beautiful illustrations and a easy read. Really enjoyed this, just as I enjoyed the movie.

I wish it was a longer book with greater detail. It was good but could have been amazing.
