review 1: Strong minded Phoebie and Marcus are. When Marcus comes back from the West Indies, Lady Phoebie still in his mind. Even when he knows that the last time they saw each other was when he tried to force a kiss on her and Phoebie punched him.Even so Marcus will still go after his lady and try to win her love. Identities are not shared right away but knows her a mile away. Pursuing turns into a courtship of slow proportions. Once Phoebie agrees to Mary Marcus there is still danger from a different direction. Will they survive? And what about his brother Arthur will Marcus be there when he passes?
review 2: This is a sweet little period piece about a young man (Marcus) who falls in love at first sight with Lady Phoebe and in a drunken stupor scares her off. Lady Pho... moreebe is a spunky, spirited, intelligent young woman who will only marry for love...and she's NOT settling. Eight years after scaring her off, Marcus reenters the picture only she doesn't realize it's him...until it's too late. The rest of the story is fairly predictable and at some points seems to drag on. I did love the characters, but thought there could have been a little more "oomph" to the story. less
