Dangerous Girls

One of my recent reads I just finished was Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas. And can I just say; amazing, suspenseful, mysterious. Everything to draw you and keep you in a story. I was hooked from the beginning.

First off, here’s what the book is about:

******

It’s Spring Break of senior year. Anna, her boyfriend Tate, her best friend Elise, and a few other close friends are off on a debaucherous trip to Aruba that promises to be the time of their lives. But when Elise is found brutally murdered, Anna finds herself trapped in a country not her own, fighting against vile and contemptuous accusations.

As Anna sets out to find her friend’s killer, she discovers hard truths about her friendships, the slippery nature of truth, and the ache of young love.

As she awaits the judge’s decree, it becomes clear that everyone around her thinks she is not just guilty, but dangerous. When the truth comes out, it is more shocking than one could ever imagine…

Even the synopsis hooks you, at least it did with me. I first found the book at Barnes and Noble and instantly put it on my ‘To Read List’ on GoodReads. I didn’t buy the book, I got it from the library, but I certainly would buy the book now.

I spent the whole time reading wondering who killed Elise. And even after finishing, I’m still wondering. ( I finished about 3 weeks ago, that’s how much it’s stuck with me.)

The book leaves you hanging on in a way. It doesn’t come right out and say who killed her. Hints are dropped and you’re left thinking Anna killed her best friend. But if you’re like me you might not be completely convinced. Part of me thinks Anna did do it but another part of me thinks she didn’t and was just happy her friend was dead.

You’re with clues pointing both ways. There was proof that someone was stalking Elise throughout the trip and was being followed the day she was killed. You also know that Anna caught Elise and Tate (her boyfriend) together that day and she said ‘I win’ to Elise’s grave. Which does point towards her being the killer. But I still just don’t know.

I know that I would be livid if I found my best friend and boyfriend together. But wanting someone dead and actually killing someone are two different things. And a stalker is more likely to be a killer than teenage girl. Then again, people are capable of anything.

Maybe this is what Abigail Haas wanted. To leave her readers wondering and thinking of this book long after finishing. Maybe we’re all wrong someone else killed her. Who knows.

I just know that I loved this book. And if you like mystery thrillers, this book is for you.

Already read it? Tell me what you think.
