Eight weeks ago her boyfriend brutally attacked her. Her body is finally healed but now her mind has to catch up. Determined to start living life again and not letting her ex determine how she lives Jess is ready to get on with it. The only thing that could deter her is the one thing she dreads the most, her ex showing back up. Which is just what he does.Conlan James does not do relationships, he believes once a man falls for a woman that it will break him. He watched his father and best friend go through it. He won't allow that to happen to him. Busy running his security company he allows himself one allowance. Every Monday mo... morerning he sees a beautiful brunette at the local coffee shop, one look from her carries him through the week. He never expects anything more. Then Conlan becomes Jess's hero when he defends her from her ex. Soon their lives are intertwined while trying to keep her safe and Conlan trying to keep up his walls. Can Conlan keep both Jess and his heart safe?I liked this book, I always love an alpha male. I liked Jess's determination to get her life back and of course I hated the ex. This may sound odd but the only thing I didn't like about this book was in the end Conlan wasn't quite "Alpha" enough. I wanted him to do some serious butt kicking and he took a back seat to most of it. Still, I really like Conlan and Jess together and I am sure there will be more books in this series that I can't wait to read.
review 2: I was glued to this story from the very first page, with Jess and Conlan you never know what will happen. You can't help but root for them to get together in the end. Jess is back to the world of the living after her ex-boyfriend Brit put her in the hospital and the recovery time was about six weeks but her mental recovery will always be part of her. Conlan has come to the same coffee shop each Monday hoping to see her. her being Jess.He didn't know why she hasn't been around, he just wanted to see her. Conlan will rescue her more than once and in more ways then one. He will rescue her mind, body and soul. Conlan doesn't believe in love, everyone will leave him and he will not let himself get hurt that way. Can Jess make Conlan see that love is a good thing? Can Conlan save Jess when Brit comes after her again? This is an awesome romantic suspense and all around great story. This is a first for me by Ella Sheridan and I can't wait for more, especially from this series.**Copy provided by the author in exchange for my honest review** less
