review 1: Lucy Towerton is relieved when Cyrus Ravensthorpe requests her hand in marriage. She knows she is overly tall and will not have many chances to marry. But after becoming engaged, Cyrus really doesn't pay much attention to her. When Lucy receives an unexpected inheritance, she becomes an heiress who no longer has to marry an untitled Cyrus. Lucy doesn't know what to do. Should she break off her engagement to her fiance, or let them be caught in a compromising situation to ensure a marriage.This was a great novella that really should have been turned into a full novel. I would probably give it a full 5 stars except for the length. Cyrus and Lucy are great characters who aren't aware of their feelings until they actually start talking to each other. The minor characters are a... morelso interesting, especially Lucy's mother, who looks down on Cyrus because he is not part of the aristocracy. My rating: 4.5 Stars.
review 2: 3.5 STARS - I rounded up. Lucy Towerton was betrothed to handsome Cyrus Ravensthorpe Esq., who has money but no title. Apparently his mother was a daughter of a duke but ran away to marry his father who is a famous solicitor. Cyrus has a plan for everything and made a list of it. It wasn't until Lucy Towerton, daughter of an Earl, was going to break off the marriage did he change his ways. He thought of her as a chess piece and something to check off his list, someone that would be quiet and have a title - aka Lucy the wallflower. But Lucy is a wallflower no more ever since she came into inheritance from her Aunt. Now fortune hunters and every other men come to court her. Cyrus has a bit of an identity issue but not anymore every since Lucy came into his life. Cyrus eventually was able to woo back Lucy and they married in the end had a HEA with children. less
