review 1: I started this series out of order, reading "When Beauty Tamed the Beast" first. After loving that one, I quickly downloaded the rest of the series and started with the first book in the series. This book is #1.5, taking place after the events in "A Kiss at Midnight". I love the idea of gently retelling the fairy tales, and was delighted that Wick, one of my favorite characters in AKaM got his own story! Like AKaM and WBTtB, the banter between the characters, not just the Hero & Heroine, in this book is wonderfully written. While it is related to the story of Cinderella, it has nothing to do with the Prince & Princess, so the story was entirely new, and very sweet. Like in the other books, yes, the sensibilities and phrasing of the characters is entirely modern, but, becau... morese it isn't an historical novel, I felt that those anachronistic elements worked well. Overall, I highly recommend it and am looking forward to reading the rest of this series!

Mengangkat tema cinta dan perjuangan mendapatkannya ditengah tengah kehidupan zaman dimana skandal dan serangan maut masyarakat bangsawan terhadap hal hal yg menentang norma dan aturan yg ada, cinta dua anak manusia yg berbeda status.Saat detik kesadaran kalau dirinya tak mencintai tunangannya, Philippa melarikan diri dari rumah ayahnya ke sebuah kastil yg menawarkan pekerjaan sebagai pengasuh anak dan tempat berlindung. Di kastil inilah Philippa bertemu seseorang yg dicintainya. Pria yg bukan siapa siapa. Pria yg hanyalah seorang anak haram (walau saudaraan dengan pangeran pemilik kastil) dan kepala pelayan di kastil tersebut. Namun cinta telah memilih dan Philipa lebih memilih Wick sebagai suami dibanding tunangannya yg telah merenggut keperawanannya. Philippa harus berjuang dan berusaha meyakinkan Wick kalau dirinya lebih bahagia bersama Wick walau harus turun derajat menjadi seorang pelayan juga. Dan Wick harus menentukan sikap agar mereka dapat hidup bahagia bersama tanpa adanya cemoohan dari masyarakat. less
