review 1: I had a hard time with this book.I wanted to like Lexie, give her a chance and i wanted to like Lukas. But i couldnt. At first, Lexie is presented like a victim. And i expected somewhere in the book she would wake up, grow up and fight for herself and her kid.But no.She just follow the lead.Mollie make their father buy a house which is just stupid when youre hiding but she follow the lead ( and the reader knows from the beginning that this house will bring the bad guy and the drama to their door). Her co worker tell her that Lukas is a good guy and to go out with him. She do it, even if her reasons are just ridiculous.Whatever Lukas order her around, she follow the lead. She seek protection from her parents when she is pregnant. When rejected she seek protection from the abu... moresive boyfriend. This didnt work out, so she use the protection of her best friend and then jump under Lukas's protection...Is she twelve ?She only make her own choice and open her mouth when she can make the worst choice and have the stupidest idea: like be alone when she knows the bad guy is close, hiding the stalker issue, or defying the guy who had her prisonner...Lukas: he acts like a stalker. He doesnt ask her out, he tell her they are going on a date. He somehow tell from the beginning she will find out sooner or later that she is in love with him. No seduction, he take what he want and she go along because he knows better than her. He order her to stay at home (her last boyfriend had her a prisonner in her own home... WTF) He yell at her when she disobey. In fact he has the same behavior and use almost the same word than the abusive boyfriend and the stalker. BUT ! But he has good intentions. So If the guy is creepy, stalker and "bossy" but do it for your own good, everything is good ???Ewww !
review 2: DNF at 39%I tried. I tried so hard to get through it but I couldn't. There is only so many times I can be bothered reading about how the heroine refuses to accept that the hero's into her. I just got really frustrated. The book had promise! I liked the blurb - very KA (and I think that might have been the problem, I went in expecting KA). And I also just do not like Alexia. At all. Maybe I'll try again. Maybe Lex changes as and I might actually end up liking her but for now I'm moving on. less
