December Wrap-Up
Oh, December, that month when I make all the plans to read everything before the end of the year – and I end up reading a total of 2 books. I really enjoyed every moment of the festive season with my son so I don’t regret that time spent at all. Afterward, I spent a lot of time panicking planning for the new year so again I didn’t get a lot of reading done. Hopefully, I can start off the year strong, both personally and in regards to reading.
Ever The Brave by Erin Summerill (ARC) ★★★★
A great improvement from the first book! The author took the story in a great direction and set up for a good spin-off with characters I really grew to love.
The Shadow Queen by C J Redwine (Overdrive) – 3.5 Stars
This had all the ingredients of a 5-star book for me but they didn’t come together. It felt a bit cheesy to me at times and I didn’t enjoy the way the author wrote the romance or the actions scenes. (And that made up the majority of the book) So this was a miss for me.
This Adventure Ends by Emma Mills
After reading Foolish Hearts I knew I had to order everything by Emma Mills. I can’t wait to see if I enjoy them as much!
In Other News
I had a really good holiday season with my son, who understood Christmas (sort of) for the first time. I didn’t spend a lot of time reading but I am using my week off in January to do a lot of that before I have to start my new semester. I did a lot of reflecting on my life and reading in 2017 and made some new goals. (Which I’ll talk about more in another post) I know that I want to read a lot more in 2018 but I also want to be a lot more selective about what I read. I read some new all-time favorites this year but overall it wasn’t a great reading year and I think that’s because I didn’t have a lot of direction when I was choosing books.
