review 1: Emma mills has created a lovely story here; something that's different from most witch books. A half vampire, half witch sounds interesting right? but I just found myself thinking like it's been done before, better even. I had such high hopes for this book but just felt let down towards the end. I just found it predictable not mysterious or gripping my attention till the very last page. The character Jess was taken from her world and placed into a totally different one. I know I should feel sorry for her but I just felt like she was screaming for attention. she's a kind, loving character but there was just something about how she was written that made me find her annoying. eh, don't even get me started on the demanding vampire called Daniel... right listen this, Jess was... more turned by daniel so now she's 'suppose' to love him because his her maker. What the heck? shut up you silly vampire boy. I really didn't like this character, I found him demanding, up tight and delusional. I found myself wanting to grab a wooden stake and stabbing that douche right in the heart :)I gave this book three stars because I liked what emma created, but I just didn't like a few of the characters and the fact that it didn't hold my attention.
review 2: This book was quiet boring, the plot took too long to unfold, action escalated at snail pace, and the characters were not believable. How can vampires be this old and yet be soo childish, the characters were so juvenile and one sided. Wasn't what I expected, the only thing going for the story is the vampire witch angle, which let's be real is kind of cool, but on Jessica? Not sure if she as a character pulled it off effectively.Unsure of if to read the other two books in the series, but you know me, got to finish what I start, regardless of excruciating agony of reading. less
