review 1: What I really like about this graphic novel is that the photographs are ones that Emmanuel Guibert himself took during the journey. They really add to the testament of the story. This graphic novel is very real, not fantastical in anyway. It has left me highly appreciative and humbled by the work that organizations like MSF do in order to help those in need. A great book for anyone who wants to see differently.
review 2: An epic and larger format graphic novel that expertly blends the photographs of a French MSF (doctors without borders) photographer who traveled through Pakistan into Afghanistan to document the doctors providing medical assistance to Afghanis in 1986. This book documents his journey with his photographs and graphic comic book style art. What a
... moren amazing blend of photo/art storytelling. A realistic picture of a tough experience that tried hard not to glamorize the retelling. Pretty incredible. Check it out from the Library... less
