review 1: This does not even come close to what I had come to expect from Lustbader's continuation of the famous Ludlum novels. It is simply a bridge from Lustbader's previous Bourne novel which I enjoyed to what I sincerely hope is a vastly improved next book. As I have so much enjoyed the first six Bourne novels I will persevere and try to continue with number 8 at some time. This one, number 7, was poorly written - it felt as if there were two different authors fighting for control of the book. The first half is slow and feels very uninspired. Most of the second half is much better and there are moments of good story-telling. The ending sadly is the weakest section and is nothing more than a segue to the next book in the series. As a stand-alone novel "The Bourne Deception... more" fails. Hopefully it is more than a bridge to nowhere.
review 2: I haven't read a Bourne book since the passing of Robert Ludlum. Like everyone I've seen the Bourne trilogy that have been made into movies. As such, I missed a few of the books in the series. That said, I enjoyed the heck out of this book. Great villians. Remarkable twist plots. And I have to admit that I like the way that there are strong female characters in this book.I recommend it for anyone that loves a good action-thriller with political overtones! less
