review 1: Got this one free on the Android Nexus 7, so decided to give it a whirl, as I'm a huge fan of the original Bourne series. In a word, ridiculous. The story was far too fragmented, with very little of Bourne in it. Jason lost a lot of what made him, him (he's only an above average "fighter", and only a little bit of angst or issue with his Treadstone life). What really irritated me was the fact that nary a single character in the book was what they seemed. Sure, it's a "spy novel" so we expect some backstabbing and double-agentry, but when *EVERYONE* has multiple agendas diametrically opposed to their outward facade, it's the same as no one having one; boring and predictable. It gets to the ridiculous point of one character being an identical triplet, with a multiple person... moreality disorder. C'mon. It's worth a few nights as a before-bed read, if you can get it free, but I wouldn't advise paying for it.
review 2: Terrorism directed toward the U.S. is a high threat for many reasons. Thousands of people could be affected by any types of terrorism regarding the economy or having to do with lethal actions. In the book “The Bourne Dominion” by Eric Van Lustbader, Jason Bourne helps to stop an elusive group of terrorists planning to destroy America’s most strategic natural resources. Jason Bourne travels from South America to Europe to the Middle East with hopes to stop these terrorists. This book takes place in modern day with a very realistic plot having to do with saving America’s military and economic future. This book has many first-person perspectives that are important. Bourne seeks his friend Boris Karpov to help him stop the group, but little does Bourne know that in order to remain head of the Russia’s spy agency, Karpov has been assigned to kill Bourne. That puts Bourne and Karpov on a course that would cause a major catastrophe. Jason Bourne is an American spy who was created as a multi-million dollar weapon that is swift and dangerous. He was trained to be stealthy and deadly. Bourne has exceptional skills and goes through changes throughout the story and is dedicated to what he is doing for America. Boris Karpov and Jason Bourne are similar in their jobs and how they do things. The are both resourceful and can use the world as their weapon. They are both understanding and take initiative to situations, whether good or bad, the same general way by identifying who they are, and where they are going based on their actions. They can anticipate what people are going to do so they can be a step ahead of them. This is why it makes these sophisticated men so deadly. A scene in this book that helps describe what Jason Bourne is like is when he evades people from the Domna. This is an excerpt from the text that shows he can anticipate events well; ”...without signaling, shot forward into the left-hand lane. Within seconds he had passed the black van. He watched it firmly planted in his rearview, receding slowly from view. Then it changed lanes and accelerated. Now he began to look for the box, a tailing maneuver extremely difficult to shake since it involved vehicles in front and behind...’There are people on this road that shouldn’t be here,’ Bourne said. ‘Sit back.’” This excerpt from the text shows that Jason Bourne knows how to take care of himself and others when he is in danger. I think that people like this exist in the world to help America’s goal of safety and growth for the future. We don’t think about what people could possibly be doing to help save our lives at this very instant and I think these people who do this for us are taken for granted by our citizens. Eric Van Lustbader (the author of this book and many other Bourne novels) was born in Greenwich Village, New York, where he developed an interest in art as well as in writing. His novels have been translated into over fifteen languages; his books are bestsellers worldwide and are so popular whole sections of bookstores in all parts of the world are dedicated to them. less
