review 1: I miss Robert Ludlum. After the Bourne Ultimatum this is the next book that has potential from Eric Van Lustbader. I was really looking forward to Bourne's premonition of death, the meeting between Bourne and Arkadin.This book follows the typical pattern of the other books; there are a few chess pieces that move about the globe in search for the ending of the book. The main characters either move along to the next puzzle piece by some unforeseen force that luckily shows up in the nick of time or the series would be over. I can appreciate the research of the author but when it adds an extra 250 pages to a book to describe things that have no meaning and rarely paint a picture, you are going in the wrong direction.I gave this book the lowest rating out of the series because ... moreof the major disappointment it left me. My hopes were actually up throughout this story, hoping for the major battle between the two agents. But all that build-up leads to an agent who was a crafty killer and rarely made mistakes, became all of a sudden arrogant and pompous at an inopportune time causing his death. I will suffer through the last two books of this series; not because I'm looking forward to what the author writes, but because Ludlum made me a Bourne fan.And don't even get me started on the story line of Moira....disgusting.
review 2: Grade: D-It took weeks, with several other books started and completed, but I managed to finish The Bourne Objective. The first half of the book absolutely dragged. The second half left more in the dark than it brought to light. Boring, convoluted and full of holes this novel was a disappointment from start to finish and is unworthy of the Bourne name. This will be the one and only "fake" Bourne book that I read. less
