review 1: A lot of teenagers fantazize about dropping out of school and getting an apartment on their own, the glamor of it all. But Anna’s life has never been easy or glamourous, her mom was never home, always out searching for the next ‘mr right’ leading Anna to fill her life with sex. Her story is one of heartbreak and love. Friendship and the families we create for ourselves. I loved this story so dearly, its written so poetically, and Anna is so easy to become attached to.
review 2: B+ A fellow alum of Naropa, of course I had to read it. The writing is very Naropa, and truly wonderful. You meet Anna as she struggles to find the loving relationship she has lost with her mother - her mother neglects her daughter for various relationships (including marriages) wi... moreth men. The men are never mentioned as they all appear interchangeable, and Anna is very much alone. She finds solace only with boys, and with a good friend Toy. It's one young woman's story of self-discovery and growth. Very engrossing, and lovely writing. less
