review 1: A boy and his mom go shopping. Mom warns her son that she will put up with no more Chicken Butt jokes. Nevertheless, the boy manages to engage his mom in a conversation that leads her to say “butt” in every sentence, making the boy crack up laughing.“Stop! No more.But, Mom, look now.Look by the cat!Cat? But…CAT BUTT!No, not that! But…THAT BUTT!Which? But…WITCH BUTT!”Silly kid humor.
review 2: Filled with word play on the words but and butt, this follow-up to the original Chicken Butt title is sure to have young readers laughing in glee--and possibly torturing their friends and parents with their jokes. It's amusing the first time around, but the joke wears thin after awhile. As I read, I kept feeling sorry for that long-suffering, infinitely pati... moreent mother who has clearly heard all manner of butt, poop jokes before. Still, who can resist word play centered around homonyms and homophones? The acrylic paint and colored pencil illustrations show the glee of a boy intent on sharing jokes with his mom and her growing frustration with their repetitive nature. Mom's comments are in small, black font, and the boy's comments are in large, red font for easy reading aloud. This one is fun, but not necessarily my cup of tea. less
