review 1: I would give this book 3.5. It has definitely taught me a lot regarding how social media is changing our interactions on so many levels. Some of the most important things I have learned are:+ Either you do social media or others will do it for you...+ "arm" yourself with transparency. This is an amazing thought! Transparency needs limits though!+ The most important rule in social media is to listen to your audience/customer/voter... The book touches many field. Some of which are clearly not of interest to all (or at least to me). There is a lot repetition in the book. The middle section could be presented in a lot denser fashion. I must admit that I was close to not finishing the book because in the middle it becomes a "how to" book which was not what I was looking for. Bu... moret the last chapter was really worth staying with the book. I do recommend reading it to learn the role and importance of social media in practically most of what we do.
review 2: Good: Excellent overview of how social media is changing our lives (especially business) and how we need to adapt with it . Definitely brings home the point that marketing is not what it used to beWeakenesses: Specific details on how to implement philosophy and best practices in book (though it is understandable because social media changes so much). It has some some small examples of small businesses but focuses more on large business. In my opinion, individuals and small businesses can use this book better to implement changes than a larger corporation could.Geared for: People who are already on social media and want to dig deeper into how social media might work for their businessOverall, if you are someone who wants to find a way to open your mind about the ways you can use social media, then this might be for you. less
