review 1: I couldn't finish this cozy mystery. It crossed the line separating cozy from boring - and it was a snooze fest. Halfway through, I thought to myself "this simply isn't worth finishing," but decided to soldier on, then gave up at 65%. There are more words spent on what Lizzie wears, eats and does than there are moving the story forward. By the time I gave up, someone could've killed everyone in the town of Ashton Corners, and I wouldn't have cared.
review 2: Terrific first-of-series novel!! The right amounts of humor, friendship, murder, trying to put together the seemingly unrelated twists of plot - am already reading the second in the series! The characters are fully-developed, well-rounded, likable. Lizzie and Molly are my favorites, maybe Andie, too. The ... moreelements of BOOKS, CATS, and mystery reading book club - wonderful! I hope this series has a good, long run!! Would like to see the cats a little more involved with the plot, but that's okay. If there was a mystery book club within a few miles of me, I would be all over it! Kudos to Erika Chase for a fun, exciting new series! less
