review 1: #3 in the Ashton Corners Book Club mystery series. Lightweight, fun to read, cozy with a comfortable cast of recurring characters.Ashton Corners Book Club mystery - It's time to celebrate when club member Molly Mathews's childhood friend, Teensy Coldicutt, moves back to town--complete with a published book. But as the club plans Teensy's book launch, Molly is attacked and Teensy's books are stolen. Who would be so desperate for 150 copies of a sexy novel written by an elderly widow? Then Ashton Corners is hit with another shock when Teensy's publisher turns up dead--and fellow club member and former police chief Bob Miller is taken into custody. Convinced that Teensy's missing books hold the key to the murder, Lizzie Turner and her band of readers are determined to hunt t... morehem down. But the plot thickens when their search leads them straight into a counterfeiting ring.
review 2: I enjoyed the first book of this series the best. My favorite part of this book was the quotes at the beginning of each chapter from other mysteries. Molly's childhood friend, Teensy, is back in Ashton Corners after writing a book. The book club chooses her book as their monthly selection and sets up book launches but before that happens the books are lost, the publisher is murdered and another dead body is found in Bob's yard. The FBI are involved and Bob is the leading suspect. It's up to Lizzie and the other members of the club to help clear his name. I guess the other books weren't all that memorable as I had a hard time remembering anything at all about Andie, Sally Jo, Jacob and Stephanie. I did not like how possessive the chief was with Lizzie but was grateful that the love triangle was nipped in the bud. My particular pet peeve was the omnipresent glasses of iced tea and the descriptions of each and every outfit Lizzie wore. The mystery itself was pretty far fetched and by the time I got to the end, I didn't care a whole lot about who did it and was not overly surprised with the culprit. I do like the storyline of Lizzie and her mother and the character of Molly. I missed the actual discussion of books and most likely will not continue with the series. less
