review 1: An interesting premise, though Hemingway is used to hang the story of Mariella on, rather than as a main character. I found him very well drawn, and really couldn't tell whether Hemingway's letter 'Who murders the vets?' was genuine or not. (Must ask the author. Ms. Robuck manages to capture the personality of EH and even make him a sympathetic character, not easy to do. Mariella is similarly flawed but I found muself rooting for her. I found the plot a bit slow to begin with, but it picks up speed, and towards the end I was racing through it to see what happened. And the sense of time and place is very well done. Recommended for book clubs.
review 2: After reading the Paris Wife, I have become so intrigued with the life of Hemingway. The people that surround
... moreed him, the landscape (Paris, the Alps, Spain, Bimini or Key West),the drinks, the food. Although the book is clearly fiction, the attention to detail and her clear understanding of Hemingway's massive complexity makes it read like a real life account. My opinion of him personally, didn't change. I finished the book wanting to know more about Mariella and more about the rest of the women that surrounded Hemingway in his life. A great beach read. The author absolutely did her homework. less

Almost boring, full of clichés and the first draft went to print.
