review 1: This book brought to life the fascinating stories of the Finger Lakes wineries & additionally the winemakers that are behind the growing season and harvest. Science, art, rich family history and hard work are intertwined with the people & environment, which makes the Finger Lakes region so unique. I can hardly wait to go back and re-visit our favorite wineries! An interesting read and very well written.
review 2: The most improbable of books: a page-turning nonfiction account of the revitalization of the wine industry in the Finger Lakes. It works because Dawson is a journalist first and brings to life the stories of the people he writes about. It resonated with me because I'm from there, know the places he's writing about and have been to some of the wineries
... more. But this book is accessible to anyone, wine lover or New York Stater or not. However, no harm in cozying up with a glass of dry Riesling while reading it, either. less
