Beasts of Burden
review 1: This wasn't the usual graphic novel I would have picked up but I was pleasantly surprised. The book itself is lovely and the artwork is really good. It is a collection of stories all tied together about a group of dogs and a few cats that save their town of Burden Hill from supernatural beings and happenings. Although it started out slowly for me, by the last story I wanted to read more so I highly recommend it. If you like talking animals that kick supernatural butt, you'll love it!
review 2: I've been a fan of Evan Dorkin since his Milk and Cheese days - he's one of the few comic creators who's work survived the moving-house chuckout. This is some of his best work and I would dearly love to read more of this story. I am a huge sucker for animal stories an
... mored urban fantasy so it was natural that I would gravitate toward this collection of fables about a gang of neighbourhood dogs (and cat) that know about the supernatural underbelly of Burden. This book isn't for children - the violence can be confronting and one story in particular is an animal lover's worst nightmare. The artwork is warm, expressive and beautifully rendered. less

Borrowed this one from the library - Strong art, frothy script. Lots of fun.

Fun to read, but a little too bloody for my squeamish sensibilities.
