review 1: This book really isn't light reading and I would say it is a pretty low four stars for me at least. It's pretty heavy and depressing at times. Both Nick and Logan have a back log of personal demons to deal with and at one point in this book I just wasn't sure how these two were going to get their HEA. I didn't feel alot of passion or heat from these two and I think partly it was because of all the other problems they had going on. Yet the story was complex and raised alot of different issues and I like the contrast of different types of abuse and how it can effect people. I wasn't really fond of the last part of the book since it lined up all the straw men and cut them down easily. Too many of these messy emotional problems were solve too easily and simply. If nothi... moreng else every single loose end was tied up by the end but I was kind of tired of seeing them tied up so very perfectly
review 2: synopsis:logan hit his wife in a fit of rage, and has to go to abuser counselling. he can't admit what makes him furious, but he is working on controlling his rages. nick is a counsellor at a shelter, and he doesn't believe that abusers can be rehabilitated, but because his boss asks him to make an exception, he supervises logan teaching abused women. logan can't admit to himself that what makes him so angry is anytime anyone calls him a derogatory homophobic name, mainly because he is gay. something happened when he was in high school to a guy that he liked, and he's never done anything about it since. when he finds out that nick is gay, and not secretive about it, logan is worried and amazed that someone could be so open about his sexuality. as they get to know one another better, an attraction grows between them, against both of their better judgement. what i liked: that nick and logan were real people. i also liked that logan eventually came to accept his responsibilities in what happened, and not keep passing them off on someone else, or trying to reason things away. i liked that logan always kept what was best for his kids in his mind. i also liked that both men were understanding of the other when they realized the baggage each one was carrying.what i didn't like: that logan was still trying to get back with his wife long after he realized how he felt about nick. less
