review 2: It's sort of strange when a book takes you in so many directions. Gander has you thinking the novel is a weird retrospection on life, then about some strange homoerotic love affair, then a Bukowski rip-off, then a nightmare vision of loss. Not many authors would pull it off in so short a space. Also, the s... morehift in narration works wonders for the book. Even the acknowledgements section is worth reading! less
