review 1: Premise seemed good, under-appreciated PA and big-time boss, both attracted to each other and hiding it from each other over the years. It was poorly executed, the full first half was Jillian reflecting on her years with Mike and the nice things he had done and that she was going to quit. Finally the book gets to the two of them interacting, and after one kiss she completely throws herself at him, gets drunk and marries him, and has sex but doesn't remember it that well. She still wants to quit, but continues to have sex with without question or resistance, and then, at the end, she admits to him after sex that she loves him, he says he loves her, and boom, everything is good and fine and they will live happily ever after - huh? Everything is rushed and half done, even the... more smex scenes, this book will definitely be archived on the e reader...
review 2: A delightful gem--this short read packs a punch!I do enjoy the secretly-in-love-with-your-boss theme, and poor Jillan's definitely got it bad for Mike Furie. He's a demanding man, and as his oh-so-efficient PA for the last seven years, she's done everything from organizing meetings to extricating him from unpleasant social situations. And how can she complain? She's well compensated for her time and enjoys access to the perks of the private jet and the expense account and so forth. But as her loving but sometimes pesky family reminds her, she really does want a life of her own. So with her birthday coming up, she knows it's time to quit and quit ties with Mr. Furie, who apparently doesn't even recognize she's a woman.But first, one last task--out to Aspen to "rescue" Mike from another predatory female, and then she'll quit. For real! And celebrate her birthday in style.Dressed to the nines (on Mike's dime, naturally ;)), Jill puts on a performance Mike never knew she had in her. And fortified with some truly excellent champagne, Jill's stunned to discover the next morning that not only didn't she quit, but now she's well and truly married to her job ;)The story is entertaining, it's hot, it's the in-love-with-your-boss fantasy come true!
