review 1: If you're a Seinfeld fan, this is worth reading for a view into the writing process from the perspective of writer (and later guest star) Fred Stoller. Nothing really mind-blowing, but it provided a less-fawning view of Seinfeld than you normally see.The non-Seinfeld parts of the book were of less interest to me, but it wasn't too tedious. Stoller's tone is a little whiney and mopey, but if you've seen his act that's his trademark so it makes more sense.
review 2: Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it. MY SEINFELD YEAR tells the story of Fred Stoler...Wait, who is Fred Stoler? You know him. He's been on every sitcom out there, usually as the curmudgeonly guy with that voice you cannot forget. We know him as one of the tools on Handy Manny, bu... moret I digress...Anyhow, this is the one about the time that Stoler finally gets the gig of a lifetime as a write on SEINFELD, the holy grail for every LA comedic writer. What should be his time to shine isn't, because of....well, let Fred tell you. This is a Kindle Single so it reads fast. You'll get a backstage look at how the show's writer's room worked, and how the writers battled to be the favorite child of mercurial Larry David and Jerry himself. Totally worth a read. less
