review 1: For some reason, and despite what I'd heard, I didn't really expect to like this series very much. But I repent. Van Lente's big lovable dumb guy, which he polished so well on Hercules, is great here. But Archer--an ultra-naive muscle mimic assassin raised by fundamentalists--is so ridiculously fantastic that it's just incredible. This really does end up being a lot of fun, but only if you don't take your comics too seriously. I mean, it fundamentally involves nunjas a nazi Tibetan monks, so you should pretty much know what to expect.
review 2: Any fellow 90s kids will probably remember Valiant Comics, and although Archer and Armstrong was not one I got into the buzz around this new series had me intrigued so I took a chance. You couldn't have more of an o
... moredd-couple if you tried. Without giving too much away, they team up in an effort to thwart a religious sect bent on finding the parts of a machine that they think will grant them incredible power. According to Armstrong though, it will more than likely just kill everyone. less
