review 1: The Season One "original graphic novels" (I never liked referring to comics as GNs) were a promising concept that quickly grew tedious, in no small part because they tell familiar origin stories with minor tweaks to fit the current continuity. They are priced beyond its page count too, containing 4-5 issues of material at the price of 6-7. My other Season One read was Fantastic Four, which I disliked for its cliched story and unappealing art. By contrast, Tom Fowler's illustration here is pretty and reminiscent of Gabriel Hardman's grungy depiction of Hulk in his series with Jeff Parker. Those don't make up for some really crappy story about sex-starved people (Hulk included!) contained here, though.
review 2: Hulk Season One does what it was intended to do. It
... more provides a retelling of the Hulk's origin story that is accessible for new comic readers. The story was interesting and while the illustrations were by no means poor, I would have preferred them to be more 'crisp'.There is plenty of action, and by the end of the story the reader will have been introduced to a solid portion of the Hulk cast of characters. Comics without having to worry about decades of continuity. A great concept. less

Tom Fowler is a Canadian treasure and Fred Van Lente is no slouch. Grand comic booking!

A fun and actually thoughtful retelling of the origin of The Hulk. Damn fine artwork.

Good re-imagining of the Hulk's origins, but not as good as it could have been.

Best retelling of Hulk's origin that I've read... EVER
