review 1: Lawyer Cary "Colt" St. John, who is a Dom in a BDSM club, has lost interest in the repetitive encounters with one-night subs. Then the janitor, Ashton Lake, who cleans his law offices, catches his attention. Ashton is shy and everything says Colt that he is submissive. So Colt decides to go on the hunt and to make everything needed to catch Ashton in his net. Since Ashton works at night, Colt begins to work later than usual. I like how Colt wasn't interested in Ashton's social status, but more concerned about what kind of person Ashton was. All throughout you get to see about two men who really needed each other, but they both had to let go past hurts and damaging behaviours. It was only toward the end of the book that you could see both men coming to trust their feelings ... morefor each other. The story is well written. The author gives us enough background to understand her MCs. Ashton is a born submissive and his trouble with drugs and past relationships with girls has not given him much confidence. Colt has full confidence in his professional abilities, both as a lawyer and a Dom, but he's never had a real relationship with a lover. The author explores the D/s relationship beyond the sexual aspect. I have read a Jack Brighton's story on the same subject that was hotter than this one, but Born to please is good too. I was told that it's not the best of Hauser's books though. So, maybe I should try her other books.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book! I was pulled in from the beginning and felt invested in the characters. Ashton is a recovering drug addict that is looking to straighten his life around. While cleaning the office building of a law firm he has a run in with Colt. Colt is a Dom and is getting very bord with it ... until he sees Ashton. But Ashton is straight ... or that's what he thinks. I do wish that there was a little more dialog in this book. Maybe a little more communication that would make things alittle easier for the two of them. I would recommend this book! Happy Reading!I had a few issue with the spelling in this book, Ashton was called Ashley and Aston at one point on my Kindle edition. I am a person that can work around bad editing and spelling, but I thought that I would put the warning out there. less
