review 1: I really enjoyed the voice of the protagonist much of the time - he is a flawed character but frequently funny and mordantly observant. He's a programmer and has some geeky traits but the picture that emerges is of a more rounded character than you often get from novels about programmers. What kept this from getting 5 stars from me was that I felt that it was a bit rushed - it's only 227 pages of which nearly 200 is the build-up to the emotional heart of the work. I am not sure whether he would have written a satisfying ending had he had enough space anyway - I would frankly have preferred the book as a straightforward social comedy instead of something that seems to be trying to be something more. Still, there were enough wry smiles to be had and a few poignant insights ... moreto recommend it.
review 2: This felt like the kinder, gentler Love Affairs of Nathaniel P. Eric, the main character, started from much more humble, nerdier roots from which he climbed to financial and professional success and figured out how to woo women. Similarly to Nathaniel, I found myself disappointed in him and his decisions, but essentially, that bad judgement is the core of the story. Other than that, it was a quick, easy read that had its moments. less

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Awful story line with boring characters.

A quick read. The conflict seemed a bit gimmicky.
