Joe & Dottie Loudermilk
review 1: I agree with other reviews that Dottie's narrative voice is what makes the book enjoyable. It's fun for a quick detective novel. I like that I don't have to read the other books in the series to know what's going on with the characters (or even a brief history of the recurring characters). I imagine that if I were to sit down and try to read them all in succession that this might get a bit annoying though. In terms of the novel, the story was good as far as detective novels were concerned. I appreciate the fact that the outcome wasn't predictable even if the ongoing twists and turns were a little foreseeable. It only took me a few hours to read, and that's just the kind of book I was looking for. If you're looking for something to read in a day, I'd recommend this... more one.
review 2: This time it's off to D.C. to visit their lefty son, Eddie, and this time ex-professor Dottie gets to shine while Joe uses his police skills to track down the murderer. After a fight with Eddie--the elder Loudermilks are fairly conservative--the relatives part mad. Next thing they know, their son is arrested for killing his roommate. A good little mystery with an amateur duo you haven't encountered anywhere else. less

A free download. Love the characterizations. Want to meet Bad Dog. Funny. High drama with humor.
