review 1: Of the three trilogy, this thriller shows the development of the author. The pacing was better and the plot more plausible. The characters were interesting though not particularly well developed - maybe two dimensional. The plot dealt a plague development from terrorist contaminating the water. We often forget just how much we rely on water and the failure to protect our supplies could be very dangerous. Then the plots leftover from prior books dealing with a terrorist and the associated assassin - rather two dimensional characters.
review 2: Executive Command is book number three in the Executive Series by Gary Grossman. It is a political thriller that focuses on the President of the United States and his personally picked Secret Service agent, Scott Roar
... moreke, who has a knack for fighting terrorism. While the book does follow the President and Scott Roarke, I noticed the book seemed to focus on two main stories. One is following the terrorist mastermind who is responsible for the terrorist plots in the first two books in the series. He has fled the United States after barely getting away and is now working on his third attempt at undermining the US Presidency. The other story follows the brilliant assassin responsible for multiple deaths in the first two books and his attempt to finish his revenge against the country he blames for almost sending him to his death.I feel like I enjoyed Executive Command a little more than the first two books in the series. The pacing is fantastic and the action begins almost immediately with a shooting at an airport that sets all the events of the book into motion. The writing is amazing. To give you a small idea of what I mean without giving too much away, there is a part in the book where the oath of office is being given to a person. Between each part of the oath of office that the person is quoting, the author inserts some result of the terrorist attacks. This actually sent a chill down my spine while reading it because it contrasted the part of the oath about protecting the Constitution against the enemies with the results of those enemies. That part alone really made the whole book for me because it was simply brilliant.I definitely recommend picking this book up and giving it a read especially if you enjoy thrillers and some good action. If you enjoy political thrillers than you won't be disappointed. I'm kind of saddened to hit the end of the Executive Series with this book. I hope there will be more to come because I've really enjoyed Gary Grossman's writing style. Plus, I enjoy the Scott Roarke character and would like to see him in action once again. less
