review 1: Nothing Special was a great book. Its pretty cool how Felton basically tells two stories at the same time. So he's on a flight to Chicago and is e-mailing his girlfriend,Aleah, about his trip to get his brother Andrew from Florida. He's considered the best high school football player in the state and has a shipload of colleges scouting him, even at his track races. Last year his brother Andrew somehow found about their family on his fathers side. Their father committed suicide when Felton was younger and they never met his father's family. So Felton told their mother , Jerri, that he was going away to a orchestra camp in Michigan. Turns out he ran away to their house in Florida to live with them and Felton had to go get him. So Felton And his friend Gus drive from Wisconsin ... moreall the way to Fort Meyers in the bottom of Florida. So while he's telling Aleah the story about his trip to get Andrew, he's on a travel bus with a random girl he met on the plane named Renee. She is 22 years old and kind of likes Felton. He didn't know she was 22; he thought she was the same age as him so he kind of liked her too. So he goes back to the story about getting Andrew. They got to Florida and called Andrew to tell them where they were. Their cousin Tovi found them and took them to the house where Andrew was staying. Tovi and Andrew introduced Felton to their grandfather and he was a pretty crazy guy. He then played his grandfather in a game of tennis. His father was a state champion in tennis, but this was Felton's first time playing. He was beating his grandfather in the game badly, so the man went crazy and blamed Felton for his son's death. Later they all made up and Andrew decided that he would stay and live in Flotrida with them. Felton and Gus went home and Felton went back to school and played football with his school and decided to wait for his time to pick for college.
review 2: I don't usually go for sport-type books and I had no idea that this was the second book the in the series, but I really enjoyed this book. I loved Felton's voice through the letter - it sounded like a real kid, which not many authors can pull off. Though I was slightly confused without knowing the first book, I just went with the plot and especially enjoyed the little side notes and real time commentary from Felton's journey. Great book. less
