Little Pup’s wolf family is on their way to a special reunion—with lots of cousins, games, roasting marshmallows, and fun! As the young wolf thinks about different kinds of families, it’s the perfect opportunity for Mama and Papa to teach their inquisitive child about the families that God brings together. Some families are big and others are small, some are led by grandparents or just one parent, and some families include adopted little ones– yet each family is truly special.  Even the members of Little Pup’s pack make up an important role in his family, although they sometimes pester him. A heartwarming and colorful addition to the best-selling God Gave Us series, this tale will delight young hearts and help them understand how families of all types reflect God’s unconditional love.

I normally review children’s books on my other blog, but since this was through a blogging program it has to go on my main book blog, so enjoy a slightly different book review!

God Gave Us Family is a great book, filled with very colorful illustrations featuring a variety of animals, as well as a good message about family throughout the book. The book discusses why families are all different; why one family might have one child and another might have 8 children because “families come in all sizes.” The book also speaks about how special it is to adopt a child, which could be really helpful if you were explaining adoption to a younger child. The book even touches on single parenting, which I thought was also great, as families indeed do come in all different sizes. The book has a Christian theme to it, explaining why God gave everyone different types and sizes of families. This book is targeted towards children ages 3-7 which I think is a great age range. I really enjoyed the illustrations throughout this book, they are vibrant and feature several different types of animals. And the message itself is a really great one and I am glad that the author talked about different types of families outside of the what is considered the normal family unit. I think this book could be really useful in explaining different family situations to younger children.

Thank you to the publisher, Waterbrook, for sending me a review copy of this book.
